Japanese Shares Slip With Banks Leading Losses

    TOKYO -- Japanese shares edged lower in early trading Wednesday in Tokyo, with financials leading the declines. Japan's Nikkei 225 Average fell 0.1% to 9,788.81, and the Topix shed 0.4% to 876.65, with Aozora Bank Ltd. down 3.5% and Shinsei Bank Ltd. losing 3.2%. But some auto shares were on the rise ahead of financial results from Nissan Motor Co. . Nissan's stock rose 0.6%, and Mazda Motor Corp. added 2%. In South Korea, the Kospi gained 0.4%, but auto stocks weakened, with Hyundai Motor down 2.4%.
